Project description
The idea of this project is to distribute physical presence. The project group will develop an remote controlled robot that can represent a real person in any other place in the world.

The project group will build an fully functionable prototype robot with an remote controlled interface in a Lego (Lejos) computer. The robot may be controlled over an ordinary Internet connection. The avatar will be equipped with necessary gadgets as a Tablet PC, WLAN, IR, Web camera, microphone, speakers and Marratech communications software.

Further development
If we had more time and better equipment we would first of all have built the robot as big and fast as a real person to make its presence more human like. We would also have built a movable arm that could be used as a pointer.

The graphical user interface would have been made as a Java Applet so that everyone could use it without any specific program running, just a regular web browser.

Instead of using MarratechPro together with our application we would have implemented our own audio/video protocol to shorten the delay time.
